even though i am not the best at it, i must admit it was nice to scroll down and see my mini entries... to me my blog is a modern day photo album, its like looking though a year book, or a diary/ journal something that reminds me of what I've thought and experienced. even though i only look at it and my faithful friend Tania, it's nice to see.

I've started a new job with a ton of opportunity and responsibility. although i love it i am utterly drained. all i want to do when i get home is veg and not think... thus the lack of blogging effort.

so here's my first fall entry:

time is crazy, i can't believe its October! October is my favorite time of the year, the weather slightly changes, i can now start to wear my favorite burgundy coat, the days are shorter, coffee is sweeter, wine is better (no need for a ice cubes that i dropped in the hot summer months- please forgive me sommeliers) and i can officially listen to my most favorite album of all time the Carpenters Christmas Portrait.

over the summer i decided to do some spring cleaning in my most favorite room of my three room options- the bed room..

pathetically so i am now uploading just in time for winter.

I got super excited when I was catching up on all my favorite blogs on Google Reader and read the clip that Refinery29 posted about Mood Nail Polish. Perfect Formula has created a beautiful line of mood nail polishes set to hit stores in June! I can not wait to own a few, I am a mega fan of mood lipstick! I am curious to see how the polishes will change colors and hopefully my mood...

Happy Town is China Town

Spontaneously this Saturday rather than running mundane errands we decided to go to China Town. It was a perfect choice, for our perfect day, it was perfectly sunny and we had a perfectly satisfying lunch at my new favorite restaurant Via Cafe. We sat and admired the tourists, saw cute little girls wearing traditional Chinese pajamas with parasols. We joined in with others and tossed coins into the wishing and even contemplated buying stink bombs. It was lovely, and I felt like a tourist myself. I had this familiar feeling that reminded me of the first time my parents drove me to Melrose. I'd never been to an area so cool; I was 13 years old barley starting Junior High in Anaheim. Melrose was exotic and was the complete opposite of what I was used to, I LOVED it! I remember thinking to myself, that as soon as I am old enough to move out of my parents house I am moving to LA. It’s pretty strange how you forget certain things, things that were so important at one time and now that i have some of those things I totally forget what it was like to fantasize about them. China Town reminded me that a small accomplishment such as moving 35 miles away is an accomplishment. I guess the point if there is one to this entry it’s to chill out and enjoy life...

Believe it or not I am camera shy, but I insisted that we capture our perfect day so here it is. I also picked up some absolute necessities such as ten small wooden clocks... I think they have been sitting in that store since the 80's doll house trend. I happily bought them and am strongly considering going back and buying the remaining 40....

seven days to go for the Pop Up Shop at AK1511... My friends (Charlie and Marcelle and Louise Rose) and I have our handmade gems and cool vintage pieces (Vintique LA and LA Vintage Exchange) at this shop for exactly one more week. If you live on the west side please check it out! We've had so much fun and are proud to be a part of this project! The turnout was amazing, here are some pictures from our party on Friday night....

Red Hot Red is Ravishing

Now that I my hair resembles caramel swirl ice cream, I long for the days of RED..... I have had almost every shade of red. I am never satisfied and always wanting a different color, this is why I am forever at my favorite salon Unity picking Denise's brain of which color to go next. In desperate times I will purchase my at home cello to tie me over until I can set up my next appointment with the chemist Denise. With red filling my head I got to thinking of all of the fabulous ladies with red hair. All of my most favorite designers have red hair Sonia, Betsey, Vivienne and then I saw September Issue Grace wowed me she sealed the deal and confirmed that Red is better!

Spring Time Fun!

Friday night was the store opening of AK1511 LXRY Pop Up Shop in Venice. I am selling some of my jewelry along with my friends and Etsy LA Street team! It was a great night full of friends, food trucks, amazing vintage and delectable hand made jewelry! I was inspired and in awe how effortlessly Marilyn transitioned the look of nerdy glasses to glamorous glasses in How to Marry a Millionaire. Not only did I fall in love with Marilyn again but I decided it was time to sport my own vintage inspired Marilyn specs. This image of Marilyn I found online shows her character in the movie so perfectly, if you haven't seen this gem of a movie yet I recommend that you do. Wear your most fab dress, put on some lipstick, fluff your hair, get your Jiffy Pop and plop on your comfy couch and be enamored with the beautiful Marilyn.

Here are some pictures of me with my Marilyn knock offs, I am not quite the babe a licious, glamorous, effortless chic as Marilyn but I'd say a vast improvement from my younger year eye patch phase... xo

i've gotta get my liquid courage on for tomorrow nights KAROKE NIGHT!!!! ... we've been invited to K-town with my fellow coworkers we're all going to this lovely festivity to celebrate a colleagues transfer to Boston. I normally wound not go out on a work night but i've decided to spice things up and in doing so i will even be participating, even though i promised my step-dad I would never sing again in public. I am hoping that all my practicing will pay off and when one of my most favorite songs by Dionne Warwick starts and i am able to belt it out! This is going to be the ultimate test in my relationship my boyfriend is going to see me totally geek out possibly changing the way he thinks of me, not to mention i asked him to video tape it, eek what was i thinking.... to be continued, outlook not so good.....

Whenever I am feeling down in the dumps or I glance at myself in a mirror and do not like what I see. I reach for my Mood Lipstick, I buy them by the dozen, and at $3.99 a dozen how can I resist...

Henna Hair

Before the days of Punk Color, Manic Panic and the modern Sebastian Cellophane, ladies who wanted to change the color of their hair reached for Henna. For those of you who haven't used Henna before let me warn you that it is a timely process, you have to boil water adding it to the Henna powder and when you have a "clay like paste" spread it throughout your hair. Leaving it in for hours or even over night as my Grandma Olga used to do! Henna is a ultra hydrating treatment however, it can smell bad and prohibit you from using one of the modern hair coloring brands.

Using Henna leaves your hair Cleopatra shiny and soft! I've found that in all my years of hair coloring, bleaching, and the use of hair extensions I've traumatized my head. In my efforts in rehabilitating my hair I've stubbled upon Henna Shampoo and Conditioner from Natures Gate. At six bucks a bottle Henna shampoo and conditioner is a steal, leaving your hair soft, shiny, glossy and Va Va Voom-alicious ! It's hard to find and most Whole-Foods sell out fast, so when you see this makeover in a bottle stock up or go online and have your own scarlet worthy head of hair

Time to Start Walking....

Times are changing and with the times so am I, temporarily I've traded in my Sparkle shoes for "I mean business" black heels. Sparkly shoes are my favorite, I wear em to the car wash, grocery store, bank, even to the doctors office. As I find myself hitting the pavement for a new endeavor in my professional life. I thank my lucky stars that my practical boyfriend gave me these lovely Louboutins.... it's nice to know you have Louboutin on my side though my next treacherous journey. xoxo smile and sparkle!

hello kitty

i was thinking of what to write about for my first ever post, most of my friends in fact even strangers know that i love hello kitty. why do i love hello kitty? i have her all around my apartment, my office, my car, she is even in my purse. i am literally surrounded by her every moment of my day, and as i stare at her, i look at her simple face which is expressionless, she has her vibrant red bow, wide black eyes but no smile, not a smirk, not a frown just a simple white space. some of you who took cartoon theory might shed a bit of light on this subject or my friends who are psychology majors can probably give me a reasonably simple answer to what her expressionless face means. what hello kitty is to me ties in my simple thinking, simplicity is my life, although you wouldn't think it by the way i over dress my salad or the way i layer my mascara or the way i dress.. but i think the way to happiness is simplicity, by omitting the excess in life you will become happier....? my overly stuffed closet strongly disagrees but i think less is more with the exception of mascara, salad dressing and jewelry. so, i guess i submerge my mind and life with the expressionless kitty is cause i crave contentment with simplicity and an emotionless cat .... for today, that is xoxo
